The MSSD33R controller is an advanced microprocessor based suspended solids controller capable of accurately determining the milk/water interface (Transition or phase detection) in product recovery and CIP applications. The MSSD33R has two control relays and two adjustable setpoints. Where the instrument is used for product recovery, the setpoints are adjusted so that all product that falls between the two setpoints is recovered. This controller is also used with a Series 20 immersion sensor to maintain a sludge blanket in primary sedimentation tanks in waste water application. The fault relay is activated when the microprocessor determines that the measurement is no longer valid or if the power to the instrument is failed. This relay would normally be wired back to either a PLC or alarm annunciator panel to advise that urgent attention is required.
The MSSD33I transmitter is an advanced microprocessor based suspended solids controller capable of accurately determining the milk/water interface (also know as Transition or Phase Detection) in product recovery and CIP applications. The MSSD33I transmitter was designed as a complimentary instrument to the MSSD33R for customers who require a 4 to 20 mA output instead of control relays for interface measurement. The MSSD33I has a fully isolated 4 to 20 mA output so it can be connected to any PLC input, isolated or non isolated. When used in an interface measurement application the PLC looks at the 4 to 20 mA signal and determines the appropriate switch point for switching product between waste, product recovery or forward to processing. The MSSD33I has advanced diagnostics which includes both sensor and transmitter faults. When any fault is detected the current output will go to 22 mA and the alarm light on the front panel will flash.
The MSSD53 transmitter is an advanced microprocessor based instrument for use with 'Quadbeam' suspended solids and turbidity sensors. The instrument is supplied as standard with typical entry level defaults in the configuration programme. Only the measurement range, probe signals, current output and alarm levels have to be entered for the unit to be commissioned. With a simple menu driven operator interface the full potential of the MSSD53 can be used to quickly set up any measurement strategy. The MSSD53 has online help facilities that consist of a series of text error messages. These are displayed when either the instrument configuration is incorrect or if the sensor is not reading a sensible value for the instrument set-up. In addition one relay can be configured as a system fault relay to activate an alarm on a DCS/PLC when errors occur.
